RE: Calling all DEDICATED Neo/Peds Teams!
Iam looking for any studies proving the safety of transporting Neonates in a
Helicopter. We currently do this fixed wing only. Our Nurse practitioners
would like some concrete evidence. Please let me know if you have any info.

All within the state of NSW and the ACT. That is 10 facilities; each with a
neonatal ICUs and three of them with paediatric ICUs.
We are not facility-based. None of the tertiary hospitals has a 'transport
service'; having handed this responsibility over to us 6 years ago. This is
a deliberate strategy to avoid the problem of competition or 'tension'
between the needs & resource limitations of each tertiary facility and the
needs of the patient in the referring hospital. Notwithstanding that
separation, the process of activation connects the referring doctor with
their preferred destination via a call to us. In effect, we operate a
"clinical gateway" into the tertiary care system for paediatrics.
I would be interested in the results of your survey.

Thank you for your answers to our survey! Valuable information. If I could
ask...what facility do you transport for? I'll let you know how this all
comes together!
Thanks again,
Amy
