Re: Air-Evac EMS
Regarding AirEvac;
Their safety record leaves much to be desired. You'll need to check that
out for yourself. Not just accidents listed with the NTSB, but also find out
about their
"incidents" such as the tail rotor strike in Jay Ok. last month. They struck
a road
sign with their tail rotor on approach to a scene flight. I believe they only
require 3 yrs. of experience for employment consideration, at least on the
medical side. Try to contact some of the recieving facilities, say in St.
Louis, MO.
They typically hire from the surrounding areas, so their referrral places
may be
biased.
My personal opinion is that they need to be much safer. If you would like
I can give you some very reliable 'rumors/stories' which may or may not help.
They are
from very reliable sources. As far as patient care, I've heard a few horror
stories that
I could share if you like. I must tell you , however, that I do work for the
competition
so my views may also be biased. I do believe, however, that they make air ems
providers look bad. Maybe not to the public, but to the industry.
