1) the flight nurses and doctors either work a 12 hour or 24 hour shift.
Some doctors work a 36 hour shift. The pilots work a 12 hour shift with a
maximum of 14 hour duty day allowed if a flight goes over the 12 hour limit.
2) yes, each crew member has a separate bedroom to sleep. However, the
nurses are usually tasked with additional duties and rarely get to sleep
during their shift.
3) If it's a day shift, the nurses do not sleep, the pilots may nap an hour
or two and the doctors sleep longer periods since they work a longer duty day.
4) The pilots rotate 7 days on with 7 days off. Alternating a day 12 hour
shift with a night 12 hour shift every other hitch.
I personally feel we all are to some degree sleep deprived. The varied hours
and interruptions that occur keep one from getting the quality sleep they
need.
