We have the Echoflight (www.echoflight.com) system installed in our
helicopters, which provides near-real-time position reports. With the
addition of a specialized computer or laptop, you can send/receive email
messages and weather information.
I must say that this particular system leaves a lot to be desired, but
once mature, I feel this technology will become standard in this industry,
much as frequent position reporting did in the 80's. Having additional
systems such as the one you're working on can only improve our options due
to competition.
