I am interested in your question. We operate a clinical triage system for emergency transport requests of children. It is based on telephone conference call technology but there is a need for a robust system which uses CLI (calling line identification) and a geographical database to explicitly identify the origin of the call and link that information to detailed medical demographics about the local and regional resources potentially able to participate in the solution to the problem. The RFDS deals with areas of the country where general practice (level 1 medical care) is not available and they supply enhanced GP services (level 1 and 2). Our service provides tertiary (level 3) paediatric services to both Level 1 and Level 2.

Hello,
My name is Clint Heyer, and I am a third year student in Information
Environments at the University of Queensland, Australia. We are doing a
research assignment focused on air medical services, and how we could
design a device or system that could help the care providers (and
ultimately, the patients).
(Note: our particular emphasis has been on Australia's Royal Flying Doctor
Service)
Some of the ideas that have been put forward have been:-
- remote medical records access/modification etc.
- in-flight (and remote site) access to medical literature and information
- Remote vital signs monitoring
- A system where the air medical staff can communicate to the base
stations with a high degree of accuracy to exchange flight information,
schedules etc.
- A system for supporting more accurate triage
I was querying this list to see if any of the active participants in the
air medical field could validate these ideas as something that be useful to
them, or if there is a 'wish list' - something that would make your job
easier and provide better care for patients.
Our background is more of software/interface/small-scale-device design
rather than mechanical engineering.
