With regards to EMT, the answer about reentry if you were a Nationally Registered EMT can be found at www.nremt.org.  It also depends upon the particular state requirements.  I have found that if you as an RN plan on working in prehospital medicine, it would be beneficial to receive prehospital medical education.  It will prepare you better for what is to come in your career.

     Well most places usually take phtls or BTLS, I think that BTLS is 
falling by the way side though. ATLS can only be audited by RN's, unless the 
flight program you eventually will belong to can offer it. 
     As far as your EMT, I had a friend who was forced to retake the entire 
class because he let his expire. But that is just one state and I'm no 
expert. Good luck with your goal.
