ride-alongs

I am interested in how other programs handle "ride-alongs." For several years, our program has offered a 1 semester "Introduction to Air Care" course to the paramedic students. Recently we added nursing students to the course as well. College credit is received through one college for the paramedics and another for the nurses. An interview is done at the end of the course and the successful candidates have the opportunity to "intern" with us for the next semester; this includes all of our daily activities, including transport. Obviously, this limits the opportunity to the student population. Has any other program offered something like this? What have you found works best for your program's needs as well as the needs of the folks who are interested in "job shadowing" with the flight crew?
Thanks,
Susan Smith
