Re: wireless all vital signs to a ground physician to monitor the condition of the patient

I reply not to you personally but just my general feelings on the whole
topic of Telemetry and video consulting. While I believe they have their
place (Clinics staffed by Physician extenders military applications
etc.) I believe that this can be seen a planned obsolescence. As
prehospital providers we continually struggle against a growing tide of
apathy and general disbelief in our skills and diagnosis abilities. I
personally believe will be yet another way for some bureaucrat to say
"well lets just put trained monkeys in the field that can put on the
electrodes and dial the phone. Sorry to rant but the current changes in
ACLS, BCLS and PALS have bothered me intensely. Instead of lessening our
abilities spend more and better time training and fine tuning our skills
and diagnoses. Instead of churning out 30k medics a year insist on 1-2
years of experience BEFORE school starts not while it is in session.
Those of you who are MD/DO's and you who are RN/BSN etc. mentor this
incapable group of individuals who seem to have no skills at intubation,
BVM and prehospital medicine in general. Again this was NOT directed at
the initial request just my overall angst.
