DT - I was "in your shoes" several years ago, as flight nursing was, and
still is, my passion in nursing. The responses of several members of this
list were quite appropriate, especially in their suggestions to obtain
several years of experience in critical care & emergency nursing before
obtaining certification in these specialties. One certainly can study & pass
a test, however, to not only "know the book", but to able to apply it with
real-life situations is one of the real goals of certifications & experience.
If I can assist in any way as you pursue your dream of flight nursing,
please feel free to contact me. As you will hopefully someday experience,
flight nursing is a specialty unlike any other and not one to be missed.
"That is all very fine, but it won't do - anatomy, botany. Nonsense, Sir! I
know an old woman in Covent Garden who understands botany better, and as for
anatomy, my butcher can dissect a joint full as well. No, young man, all
this is stuff; you must go to the bedside, it is there alone you can learn
disease" Thomas Sydenham (1624-1689)
