Sorry to see some of the beating you have taken. I started as a flight nurse
in Alaska flying fixed wing. If not for the support of one of my nursing
instructors that believed in me I would never have gotten in, even with 8
years experience with the Alaska Mountain Rescue Group, 10 years as a
volunteer EMT and then five years as a nurse with three in the ER and ICU.
As a whole I think that due to the nature of the profession and that each
flight crew member must rely on their partner in a very stressful
environment, the flight community as a whole tends to have a fortress
mentality. My family has been in nursing now for three generations and my
mother who is an X ER nurse and still practices as a nurse in her 60's
believes nursing as a whole is it's own worst enemy. "WE HAVE MET THE ENEMY
AND IT IS US" and "NURSES EAT THEIR YOUNG". Keep knocking at the door, good

I would like to thank everyone for thier input. As a whole, everyone has
been very supportive and encouraging. Again I am very sorry about my first
post - after re reading it, I cant blame some of you for frying my butt.
