OK,

I agree with most folks that getting the experience in critical-care or ER 
nursing is a must.  Then go sit for the exam to verify or validate your 
knowledge base.  But I don't think that we need to belittle a fellow nurse 
for asking a question.  Don't we all remember what it was like to be young, 
new and eager?

The young man who posted the question should get our wisdom and our support, 
not our gripes and complaints.

Nursing has a reputation of eating our young, let's not propogate it.
