We've known about this problem for a few months now. Fortunately, it
doesn't affect everyone. It's also causing havoc with the archives. The
problem is a combination of factors, but it's all related to email
messages sent to the list in HTML format instead of the standard
plain-text format.

The problem has gotten worse recently because AOL's new version 6.0 only
sends mail out in this non-standard format, as opposed to giving users a
choice. As you know, a large number of users on the Flightmed list are AOL
users, so this problem will continue to grow as more people "upgrade" to
the newest version.

Solutions (for everyone): If your email software (Outlook, et. al.) allows
it, please specify "plain text" for messages sent to the Flightmed mailing
list. For AOL'ers that have upgraded to 6.0, you can send mail from the
AOL webmail system instead of using the AOL email program. Even though
this will be quite awkward, it's the only way to ensure that everyone on
the list can read your posting and that it will be included in the
archives. It's unlikely that AOL will be fixing this anytime soon, if
ever, as this is being marketed as a feature instead of a bug. : )

Solutions (for those unable to read some messages): one option is to
change to an email program that supports HTML.

If anyone else has any other suggestions or questions on this issue,
please respond privately, unless it's of value to the entire list.
