Yes the claim by the Air Force is correct. The Peds/Neonatal ECHMO team has
flown all over the world. Their last transport was a multi-day mission from
Japan in a C-9A and they have also completed missions within the US using
the C-141 aircraft. If your in San Antonio this spring for CCTMC you should
stop by Wilford Hall and check it out. Drop me a line and maybe I can
arrange for you to see the equipment. There is also a video of one of their
transports made by a flightnurse from the 446th AES at McChord AFB. It is
quite an impressive operation.

There are very few air transportable ECMO machines out there. A bout a year
or so ago the only ppl that had them was the US Aif Force, (or so they
claimed).
