Paul,
I certainly respect your opinion and welcome the opportunity to reply to the
excellent questions you have raised. States require CAMTS accreditation in
various ways - some through rules and regulations, some through a CON process
and some simply state that programs must follow the CAMTS standards. I helped
to provide the state of Washington with information as they recently passed
legislation that requires CAMTS (or equivalent) accreditation. Their process
took about 1 year - starting with their air ambulance committee - public
hearings - drafts etc. Since the National Association of State EMS Directors
is a member of CAMTS- we have been able to communicate and keep their EMS
