Re: CAMTS
The states that currently require CAMTS accreditation are as follows:
Arizona, Utah, Washington, Michigan, Rhode Island, and certain counties in
California and Nevada (where EMS is regulated on a county by county basis)
require CAMTS accreditation. Additionally the states of Maryland, Idaho,
Kentucky, New York, Wyoming, Tenessee, Hawaii and Oklahoma are considering
requiring CAMTS accreditation and there may be more that I am not aware of.
Some states such as New Mexico have used the CAMTS standards in developing
their state licensing requirements and some states recognize CAMTS
accreditation in lieu of state licensing (Iowa, Missouri, Texas).
What is interesting is that when CAMTS accreditation is required it affects
both rotor and fixed wing but states that have licensing requirements for air
ambulance usually address rotorwing only - not fixed wing.
The state EMS offices of the states mentioned above are able to give you
details about their air ambulance regulations.
