I don't know the specifics, but I have fixed similar
problems by threading kinking tubing through some
suction tubing, forming a less supple sleeve.  If it
or similar tubing works, it also acts as a disposable
sleeve in the event of messy cases.

I have also seen tubing that looks like suction
tubing, but is cut in a spiral fashion (like a plastic
slinky) that performs the same function.  Computer
shops may have them for organizing the many cables
that one ends up with behind the tower.  Hardware
stores sometimes stock thicker tubing in various inner
diameters for water hoses (gardens, ponds, etc) that
may give you a better selection.
