cervical traction in transport
In my former life I used to be involved in HEMS which
serves the Northland province of New Zealand. Our
experience has been published:
Nagappan R, Barker J, Riddell T, Maiden NJ, Lindsay S,
Pennycook GA, Ellwood R.
Helicopter in transit care of the critically ill--the
Whangarei experience.
N Z Med J. 2000 Jul 28;113(1114):303-5.
We have transported patients on cervical traction
pretty comfortably and there are some pictures
available - hopefully e-mailable. Please contact
Janet Barker (ICU Charge Nurse & Chief Flight Nurse of
the programme) on janetb@nhl.co.nz should you wish
more information on the cervical traction case. She
may be able to send you some photos as well of the
cervical traction patient in our Sikorsky S-76
aircraft.
If you wish a reprint of the above publication (and of
the Patient care Bridge we used - since puiblished in
Anaesthesia & Intensive Care, Dec 2000) please e-mail
me at rameshnagappan@yahoo.com
